Only Blue for Reef
Founded in 2024, Only Blue for Reef works to protect the coral reefs of San Salvador Island (Bahamas). Its goal is to preserve marine biodiversity and raise awareness among local populations and visitors about the fragility of this ecosystem.
The association develops coral farms in partnership with the Perry Institute for Marine Science, organises educational workshops for the island’s children and implements monitoring activities in protected areas. In collaboration with the Only Blue diving centre at Club Med Columbus Isle, it mobilises divers, holidaymakers and residents to become active participants in reef protection.
With the Foundation and its Friends
Thanks to the support of the Club Med Foundation and its donors, Only Blue for Reef can continue and strengthen its actions:
- Maintenance and development of existing coral nurseries;
- Creation of new restoration structures (coral domes and artificial reefs);
- Educational programmes for children and young people in San Salvador;
- Reef Check training to involve the local community in scientific monitoring of the reef.
Every donation contributes directly to the preservation of the San Salvador coral reef and the development of participatory ecology on the island.
