Mauritian Wildlife Foundation
The Mauritian Wildlife Foundation is dedicated to protecting plants and animals. Since 1984, it has been working to save irreplaceable plant and animal species through a combination of rigorous science and innovative methods. The goal is to recreate lost ecosystems by fighting to prevent the extinction of rare endemic plants and restoring forests. Another important part of their work is raising public awareness through their education programme.
With the Foundation and its Friends
The Foundation has been providing financial support to the Mauritian Wildlife Foundation since 2011.
The funds raised are used to support initiatives on the islet of Ile aux Aigrettes, including the protection of giant tortoises, restoration of the natural habitat of endemic plants and conservation of skinks and geckos, lizards that play a key role in the pollination of certain plants.
