Djerba Solidarity & Development is a charity created in 2011.
It applies the principles of the solidarity economy. This is an approach that takes into account the needs of jobseekers and poor and marginalised people in order to transform them into productive energy.

To do this, the charity provides them with means of production, granted in the form of interest-free micro-loans. However, the charity also doesn’t hold back when it comes to responding to urgent calls for humanitarian, social and environmental work. Our Goals:

  • To instil the values of solidarity and mutual aid.
  • To encourage young people to carry out development projects.
  • To support creativity and innovation.
  • To contribute to safeguarding heritage and protecting the environment.
  • To collaborate with different organisations in order to reach a balanced and sustainable form of development.

With the Foundation and its Friends

The young people supported by the charity are invited to the Club Med resort in Djerba for Worldwide Snack Parties or solidarity holidays.

The funds raised are used to support various projects depending on the charity’s priorities.
An example of the projects supported: a project helping to reduce plastic waste and create jobs through the mechanical transformation of plastic bottles into raw materials for 3D printers to produce spare parts that are hard to find on the market for various sectors (health, education, fishing, industry, sport, etc.).
